Box 6012
San Ramon, CA 94583
REVIEW OF SOIL INVESTIGATION REPORT—FORMER TAOC TRACY PUMP STATION,
990 BEECHNUT, TRACY, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
Regional Board staff have reviewed the 13 January 2004 Soil Investigation Report, 990 Beechnut Avenue,
Tracy, San Joaquin County, prepared for ChevronTexaco by Geomatrix Consultants, Inc. (Geomatrix).
Additionally, we reviewed previous soil and groundwater investigation reports conducted by Geomatrix
and others from 1997 to 2001 for predecessors of ChevronTexaco.
Detailed comments are provided in the attached memorandum and summarized below:
• The northeast, southwest, and northwest areas of the site (including the pile) have been
impacted by TPH compounds, including PAHs; the depth of impacted soil, extending as
deep as 53 feet, has been adequately delineated.
• Considering how the volume of impacted soil could not likely be removed or remediated
efficiently, a land-use restriction should be considered limiting future use to non-
residential.
• Petroleum hydrocarbons have impacted groundwater beneath the northern portion of the
site. Groundwater needs to be delineated downgradient, north-northwest, beyond the two
boring locations sampled during the recent investigation.
• A plan and time schedule needs to be submitted addressing potential future land use and
the remaining environmental issues.
California Environmental Protection Agency
Url' Recycled Paper
