CENTRAL VAPEY
REGIONAL WATER QUAL11 YO CONTROL BOARD
INSPECTION REPORT
DISCHARGER: Woodbridge Sanitary District
LOCATION & COUNTY: Woodbridge, San Joaquin County
CONTACT(S): Harold Rohrbach, Woodbridge Sanitary District Board Director
INSPECTION DATE: 7 October 2004
INSPECTED BY: Tim O'Brien/CVRWQCB
ACCOMPANIED BY:
OBSERVATIONS AND COMMENTS:
The facility appeared to be in acceptable condition however, violations of the Waste Discharge
Requirements (WDRs) were observed. Based on the lack of wastewater in some of the
evaporation/percolation ponds, the wastewater system appeared to have adequate capacity for the winter
season. Odors were not noticed except locally at the headworks and Imhoff tanks. All ponds had at least
two feet of freeboard.
A number of the wastewater ponds had excessive growth of duckweed or other plants, a violation of the
WDRs. Dried sludge was stockpiled at the Imhoff tanks. The dried sludge must be removed prior to the
rainy season or covered to prevent generation of leachate.
SUMMARY:
In general, the facility appeared to be in adequate condition but excessive weed growth in some ponds
needs to be corrected and stockpiled dried sludge requires removal or protection from rainfall to prevent
generation of leachate.
1
Timothy R.
