Benjamin Holt, Stockton
The EHD has no problem with leaving the conductor casing in place as is. No
perferations or cutting to depth of this casing is required on wells that are allowed to
be pressure grouted, but we will need confirmation from the landowner verifying that
this is not a concern for them (pending/future construction or grading). Have the
landowner send us a brief letter/note stating this.
As for pressure grout 'allowable', please submit the lastest gw data for each well
proposed to be pressure grouted. The SJ County Well Standards can allow
pressure grouting on wells with known construction, that are not contaminated, or
are not in an area of known or suspected contamination/pollution.
From: Neely, Joe [mailto:jneely@craworld.com]
Sent: Monday, May 11, 2009 5:32 PM
To: Mike Infurna [EH]
Subject: Well Destruction at Former Shell - 3011 W. Benjamin Holt, Stockton
Mike:
We are putting together a work plan for well destructions at this former Shell site! The Board has
finally agreed to close the case.
We are planning to pressure grout the monitoring wells, but we have 4 deep wells with steel
conductor casings that I have a question about. Per the County well destruction guidelines, we
need to cut the casing down to 2.5 feet below grade when we pressure grout. Will we have to do
this also for the 4 wells with conductor casings? Our well logs indicate that the conductor casing
starts 1 foot below grade in each of these wells. Is this deep enough, or should we plan to cut
them so that the conductor casing is 2.5 feet below grade?
Let me know and I will incorporate this into our work plan.
Thanks
Joe W.
