Benjamin Holt, Stockton
Mike,
I don't have a concern with leaving the conductor casing in place at 1 foot below ground but I would ask them to
have the property owner agree to this because we don't know what constuction etc. is planned for the site in the
future that may make it a problem.
Margaret
From: Mike Infurna [EH]
Sent: Tuesday, May 12, 2009 8:00 AM
To: Margaret Lagorio [EH]
Subject: FW: Well Destruction at Former Shell - 3011 W. Benjamin Holt, Stockton
Mike:
We are putting together a work plan for well destructions at this former Shell site! The Board has
finally agreed to close the case.
We are planning to pressure grout the monitoring wells, but we have 4 deep wells with steel
conductor casings that I have a question about. Per the County well destruction guidelines, we
need to cut the casing down to 2.5 feet below grade when we pressure grout. Will we have to do
this also for the 4 wells with conductor casings? Our well logs indicate that the conductor casing
starts 1 foot below grade in each of these wells. Is this deep enough, or should we plan to cut
them so that the conductor casing is 2.5 feet below grade?
Let me know and I will incorporate this into our work plan.
Thanks
Joe W.
