enviros®
and xylenes (BTEX). The results of this investigation are documented in Aegis' April 13,
1990"Pre-Tank Replacement Site Assessment Results Report."
In January 1994, Aegis installed Wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3. Soil and ground water
samples collected from these well borings were ND for TPH and BTEX. The results of
this investigation are documented in Aegis' April 18, 1994 "Site Investigation/Monitoring
Well Installation Results Report."
Quarterly ground water monitoring and sampling are performed and results reported to
SJCEHD.
Scope of Work
The proposed scope of work includes removal of three existing USTs and associated
product piping, and replacement with two double-wall fiberglass USTs and double-wall
fiberglass product piping. This work is performed to upgrade the USTs and piping system
to comply with construction standards required by 1998.
The work is summarized in the following tasks.
Task 1 -Underground Storage Tank Removal
The UST removal project is scheduled to begin October 21, 1996. Permitting for the tank
removal has been completed.
The USTs will be uncovered and each tank will be triple rinsed while still in the open tank
pit. Twenty pounds of solid carbon dioxide per 1,000 gallons of tank volume will be
added to each tank to render potentially flammable vapors within the tank inert. Tank
vapors will be monitored, and when levels drop to acceptable concentrations, the tanks will
be removed from the excavation and loaded onto trucks for removal from the site.
Transportation and disposal services will be provided by the following companies:
Hazardous Waste Hauler:
Crosby and Overton
Ph. 1-800-821-0424
EPA#CAD982524480
Destination of Tank Rinsate:
Romic
Ph. 415-324-1638
EPA#CAD 009452657
Destination of Tanks:
Erickson, Inc.
510-235-1393
EPA#CAD009466392
96378 2
