PHS/EHD has the
following comments for your consideratiori.
i
The report included the results of the soil and groundwater investigation which was continued on June 20,
1994. Theinvestigation consisted of the drilling and 'sampling of five soil borings, one of which was
converted into monitoring well, MW-9. Significant soil contamination was evidenced. It appears that the
extent of the soil contamination has been defined on site; however, the location and concentration of
contaminants evidenced during the drilling of soil boring, SB-1, suggest that there may be some soil
contamination off site. !
The results of the groundwater samples collected June 27, 1994 indicate that the extent of the groundwater
contamination has been defined.
As indicated in PHS/EHD's April 7, 1994 correspondence, once the extent of soil and groundwater
contamination has been defined, a final remediation/corrective action plan should be submitted. Please
continue to evaluate alternatives and complete the necessary feasibility studies. The corrective action plan
should be submitted by December 30, 1994.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact me at(209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Diane M.
