Ms. Nancy Vukelich
September 11, 1990
Page 2
2) Due to the levels` of hydrocarbon concentration found, it is
likely that any well installed within approximately 75-feet
of MW-2 will show that dissolved gasoline concentrations are
sufficiently high to require an additional downgradient
monitoring well . It is intended, that by placing one well
downgradient at the proper distance, groundwater sampling
can define the- leading edge of the".-.dissolved plume so that
no additional downgradient wells will be required.
I
3) One well installed for the ARCO site was set approximately
15-feet north of the intersection of West Benjamin Holt
Drive and Plymouth Road. This well, PR-1, is on the eastern
side of Plymouth Road and- analytical results of sampling
show no detectable levels of dissolved gasoline j
hydrocarbons. Therefore, the further south of a line due
east of MW-2 the proposed well is placed, the closer it will
i
come to PR-1, an established monitoring point that has
consistently shown no dissolved gasoline hydrocarbons.
4) There is a large tree due east of the site, in line with
MW-2 . Due to the height and length of the tree branches,
any wells placed east of ..the site on the east side of
Plymouth Road will h,ave .to -be moved north 'or south
approximately 10= to 20-feet off the Line of MW-2 .
All of these considerations imply that the best location of the
proposed monitoring-well to assess the possible spread of
dissolved gasoline hydrocarbons emanating from the Chevron site
is on a line due east of the site on the eastern edge of Plymouth
Road. Because of problems . presented by. the tree,
GROUNDWATER
❑❑❑ TECHNOLOGY,INC.
4
