All samples <br /> will be accompanied by a chain-of-custody record. When transferring the possession of <br /> samples, the individuals relinquishing and receiving will sign, date, and note the time on the <br /> record. The company from which the sample is relinquished and to which it is delivered and <br /> the reason for transfer will. be noted. This record documents the transfer of samples from <br /> the custody of the sampler to that of another person, or the permanent laboratory. <br /> The relinquishing individual will record specific shipping data (airway bill number, office, <br /> time, and date) on the original and duplicate custody records. It is the Project Manager's <br /> - responsibility to ensure that all shipping data are consistent and that they are made part of the <br /> permanent job File. <br /> If sent by mail, the package will be sent by registered mail, with a return receipt requested. <br /> If sent by common carrier, a bill of lading will be used. Freight bills <br /> g g , postal service <br /> receipts, and bills of lading will be retained as part of the permanent documentation. <br /> 3.4 SAMPLE TAGS <br /> Groundwater Samnlwc <br /> Sample tags for groundwater sample containers will be supplied by the analytical laboratory <br /> and will include the type of preservatives used.
