2901 West Benjamin Holt
Page 2
The report indicated that five soil vapor extraction wells and three air sparge wells were
proposed for installation at the time'-of remediation system construction. PHS/EHD
concurs that additional wells may be needed to implement the designed remediation
system to treat the contamination which has been documented to date. PHS/EHD
further recommends that additional investigation of soil and groundwater contamination
which may have migrated off site be considered.
PHS/EHD appreciates your efforts over the last year to further characterize soil and
groundwater contamination which included quarterly monitoring and the installation of
wells that were recently reported. PHS/EHD.'eagerly awaits construction and start-up of
the proposed remediation system. If you will be unable to complete construction and
start-up by July 20, 1994, please provide PHS/EHD with a written request for an
extension. Please also continue efforts to submit quarterly reports in a timely manner.
If you have any'questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact Mary Meays,
Senior REHS, of my staff at (209)468-0337.
Earnest Fujimoto, M.D., M.P.H.
Acting Health Officer
Diane M.
