Stantec
No Further Action Request Report
Chevron and ARCO Commingled Plume No. CP0034
April 10, 2012
On June 11, 2007, SECOR field staff observed WDC Exploration and Wells of Zamora,
California (WDC) drill and install MW-10 to approximately 20 ft bgs. Petroleum hydrocarbons
were not detected in any soil samples collected from MW-10.
ARCO 2133 Facility
Since discovery of the pipe leak in 1984, 21 groundwater monitoring wells (E-1 through E-12,
BHD-1, BHD-2, PR-1, PR-2, and MW-1 through MW-5), 12 SVE wells (V-1 through V-12), and
nine AS wells (S-1 through S-9) have been installed.
On June 12, 2007, SECOR staff oversaw WDC perform the destruction of MW-4 in accordance
with San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) requirements.
Due to unsafe locations in roadway, Stantec supervised Cascade Drilling, LP (Cascade) destroy
three groundwater monitoring wells (BHD-1, E-7 and E-8) between November 9th and
November 11, 2009. Stantec supervised Ramsey Engineering (Ramsey) re-pave the former
locations of the wells.
2.4.3. Remediation History
Chevron 94275 Facility
An AS system was activated in April 1997, and an SVE system was activated in September
1997. The AS system consisted of a 1.5-horsepower (hp) rotary vane compressor, alternately
injecting air into nine wells (GM-1 through GM-9). The SVE system was comprised of ten SVE
wells (VW-1 and GM-1 through GM-9), a five-hp positive-displacement blower, and 100-cubic ft
per minute (cfm) catalytic oxidizer. The SVE system was deactivated due to high groundwater
levels in February 1998. Upon shutdown of the SVE system, the system extracted
approximately 70 pounds (lbs) of GRO from the soil and groundwater beneath the site
(SECOR, 1998). The AS system was shutdown in March 2005. The SVE and AS wells were
destroyed and the remediation equipment was removed from the site in May 2005 (SECOR,
2005). Historical remediation system data for the SVE and AS systems are included in
Appendix D.
ARCO 2133 Facility
A groundwater extraction (GWE) system was operated intermittently at the site from 1984 to
1996. A total of 3,980 lbs of GRO was removed and approximately 32,000,000 gallons of
groundwater was extracted by the GWE system during active operation (SECOR 2005).
Z..
94275 NFAR 2012.doc 8
