MIM WE 0
ME PIEM.144 MINIBOOM-
I
13
conclusion is based on the findings of DC's May 1987 site investigation, documented in our
June 10, 1987, Site Assessment Report. No detectable hydrocarbon concentrations were
found in the soil samples colle:ted from the January :988 off-site well boreholes.
No detectable hydrocarbon concentrations were discovered in the groundwater samples
from the three monitoring wells, northeast (PR-1), east (BHD-2), and southeast (PR-2) of
the site. However, detectable hydrocarbon concentrations were found in the groundwater
samples from the monitoring well north (BHD-1) of the site. Detectable hydrocarbon
concentrations were co found in the n the shallow groundwate from are shown on Figure 6.and E May 11 and
12, 1988,benzene concentrations
Based on these results, the area of groundwater containing dissolved hydrocazbons is
located in the shallow groundwater beneath the site, beneath Plymouth Road east of the
a site, and beneath Benjamin Holt Drive north of the site.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the results, we recommend that the recovery system remain in operation for
the duration of the remediation or cleanup project, or until the discharge peril becom--s
outdated. We also recom=nend that the recavery system be monitored weekly to ensure
continuous operation.
Water levels in the 15 monitoring wells should be taken weekly in order to determine
the seasonal variations in the direction and gradient of groundwater flow. Each of the
15 monitoring wells should be sampled and analyzed yearly for BETX. Six of these wells
should be sampled and analyzed quarterly for BETX. The recovery system's separator tank
discharge line should be sampled and analyzed monthly for total petroleum fuel hydro-
carbons and BETX, as required by the WWF. These activities would er3ble us to evaluate
the progress of the groundwater remediation. Monthly letter reports,- documenting water
level measurements, direction, and gradient of groundwater flow, and analytical results
should be prepares]and submitted to ARCO and the WCF.
w
