Currently, nine groundwater monitoring wells are sampled quarterly and an additional 11
wells are sampled semi-annually (Figure 2)
UST REMOVAL ACTIVITES
Excavation and removal of one gasoline UST, product lines, vapor lines, and dispensers
were performed by Henderson Construction of Stockton, California on March 15t" and
18"', 1999 The excavated UST consisted of one 10,000-gallon capacity tank of
fiberglass construction, which was hauled by E C I and disposed of at their facility in
Richmond, California The tank appeared to have some cracks that appeared to be
created during the excavation of the tank Excavation and sampling activities were
observed and approved by Mr Michael Kith of SJCEHD
Soil Sampling- UST
On March 18, 1999, two soil samples were collected from the UST excavation Soil
samples were collected from each end of the tank(designated T-3A@15' and T-
3B@15') at a depth of approxtately15 feet below ground surface (bgs) Sail samples
were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons calculated as gasoline (TPH-g) by EPA
Method 8015, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, (BTEX compounds) by EPA
Method 8020, fuel oxygenates DIPE, TAME, EtBE, Ethanol, TBA, and MtBE by EPA
Method 8260, and lead by EPA Method 6010
TPH-g and benzene were reported in one of the two soil samples at concentrations of
690 mg/kg and 0 692 mg/kg (T-3W-15'), respectively MtBE was reported in both soil
samples analyzed at a maximum concentration of 0 156 mg/kg (T-3E-15') Fuel
oxygenates TBA, DIPE, EtBE, TAME, and Ethanol were reported as nondetect
Additionally, lead was reported as nondetect UST soil analytical data is presented in
Table 1 and soil sample locations are shown on Figure 3 Field and laboratory
procedures are presented as Attachment A Certified analytical reports and chain-of-
custody documentation are presented as Attachment B
Soil Sampling-Product lines, Vapor lines, and Dispensers
On March 15a' and 18'x, 1999, a total of thirty-two soil samples were collected from
beneath the dispensers (designated D-1-3', D-2-2 5', D-3-3', D-4-2 5', D-5-2 5', D-6-
3', D-7-2 5', and D-8-3'), product lines (designated PL-1-3', PL-2-3', PL-3-2 5', PL-4-
2 5', PL-5-3', PL-6-3', PL-7-3', PL-8-2 5', PL-9-2 5', PL-10-2 5', PL-11-3 5', PL-12-
3', PL-13-3', and PL-14-3'), and vapor lines (designated VP, V-1-3', V-2-3', V-3-3', V-
4-2 5', V-54', V-6-4', V-74', V-84', and V-94' (Figure 2) Soil samples were
analyzed for TPH-g by EPA Method 8015, BTEX compounds by EPA Method 8020,
fuel oxygenates DIPS, TAME, EtBE, TBA, Ethanol, and MtBE by EPA Method 8260,
and lead by EPA Method 6010
• TPH-g and benzene were reported in six of thirty-two samples with maximum
concentrations of 102 mg/kg and 0 298 mg/kg, respectively MtBE was reported in ten
