i <br /> PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES OP SAN J�OAQ1dIN COUNTY <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISIOi (Pib/EHD) <br /> SITE MITIGATION PROGRAM J <br /> EXXON SITE - 3128 WEST BENJAMIN HOLT DRIVE; STOCKTON, CA. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION MEETING COMMENTS AND RESPONSES <br /> The Exxon Site at 3128 West Benjamin Holt Drive was placed into <br /> public comment period for 60 days, beginning October 4, 1991. On <br /> November 4, 1991, Public Health Services, Environmental Health <br /> Division received a petition signed by 34 impacted individuals <br /> requesting a public meeting. A public me�etinig was scheduled for <br /> December 4, 1991. p` <br /> Ten days prior to the above mentioned public meeting, 1.00 notices <br /> were placed in the public areas in two'l child care facilities <br /> directly adjacent to the site. These notice's informed parents, <br /> many of whom had signed the petition, of the meeting logistics as <br /> well as the availability of childcare for parents interested in <br /> attending the meeting. One week prior to the meeting, 300 notices <br /> were distributed by Environmental Health stuff throughout the <br /> affected neighborhood. <br /> The public meeting was held on December 4, 1991, at 7: 00 P.M. in <br /> the large public meeting room of Mablel Barron School at 6835 <br /> Cumberland Place in Stockton, California. ,r his; location was chosen <br /> because of the proximity to the site itself. In attendance that ; <br /> evening were 11 individuals from the community; 5 staff <br /> representing Environmental Health; 5 stuff 'I,representing Exxon <br /> U. S.A, and an aide to Supervisor Wilhoit. <br /> Alison Hudson, Public Information Officer for Environmental Health, <br /> opened the workshop with introductions. Laurie Cotulla, Manager of <br /> the Contaminated Site Program outlined - Environmental Health <br /> responsibilities and jurisdictions as we'll as the requirements <br /> public participation. Michael Infurna, the IREHS providing oversite <br /> for this site, discussed the history of activities at this site. <br /> Representatives from Exxon U.S.A. described tYe current status of <br /> the site and plans for cleaning the site up. Diane Hinson, <br /> Supervising RENS, Public Health Services'; Environmental Health, 3 <br /> facilitated the question and answer session with the audience. <br /> l <br /> F <br /> 1.
