as possible, certainly within that timeframe.
2 . QUESTION: What kind of health hazards are there for
nearby school children in the neighborhood ?
EHD
RESPONSE: Basically, the constituents that are found in
gasoline are volatile organics and
hydrocarbons. At this point, part of what
Exxon will be doing is to monitor to determine
whether there are any emissions associated
with what they are proposing to do. As Jim
mentioned, during their initial tank removal
activities, they did not detect any volatile
organics coming off of the site past the site
boundaries. It would be our agency's opinion
that most likely there would not be any
additional contaminants that would leave the
site. At this point, we do not have all the
data regarding what the levels of contaminants
are. That's part of what Exxon will be
presenting to us before they actually start
the work.
(Unintelligible question from audience)
EXXON
RESPONSE: We're having. . . obviously the plastic has come
up, there have been storms and other
reasons. . .To address that issue we're going to
end up probably putting stakes or something in
the ground and actually tying twine down to
hold it down better so we' ll be able to
address that issue.
3 . QUESTION: Has their drinking water been contaminated?
RESPONSE: At this point, the drinking water supplies
themselves . . . in this area there are two
major sources of drinking water. The actual
site is part of the Lincoln Village water
system, across the street is the City of
Stockton. Due to an agreement between the City
of Stockton and Lincoln Village, currently
they utilize both water systems and in some
instances they are blended because Lincoln
Village is buying water from the City of
Stockton. But, to answer your question, all
the wells in both of those systems that are
near the site have been tested for the
constituents that are found in gasoline and
all of those are non-detect for those
constituents.
