Site enters
Unit IV, assigned to Michael Infuma (MI) as environmental assessment.
Three soil borings (SB-01, SB-02, and SB-03) placed and converted to
monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3). Soil from MW-2 hottest at
1500 ppm of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPH-G) as
reported by phone 511191. Depth to water at 12.57 feet below the ground
surface.
05/29/91 MI places site into Local Oversight Program (LOP) as water site when
Benzene detected in MW-2 at 760 ppb on 3125191. Exxon named as
responsible party/tank owner/operator.
06/21/91 Artesian Consulting places seven soil borings on site under approved
work plan and permit issued by MI. MW-4 thru MW-6 installed in B-1 thru
B-3.
10/04/91 Site enters Public Participation as requirement to over-excavate soils
during proposed underground tank (UGT) removal.
10/09/91 Four steel UGTs pulled today under permit issued by EHD. Tanks
appeared intact but some petroleum odors and discolored soils below
tanks visible.
11/07/91 MW-1 and MW-2 destroyed with bentonite slurry pressure grout by C-57
contractor, Gregg Drilling, under EHD permit in preparation for over-
excavation in these well's area.
12/04/91 Public Hearing held in response to public petition signed by 34 people.
Meeting held and Exxon, EHD, and 11 public citizens attend. No
objections noted and public allows corrective action to occur.
04/04/92 Over-excavation begins on site. Tank pit taken to 14.5 feet below ground
surface (`bgs). Confirmation soil samples (S-1 thru S-10) collected. Only
S-2 and S-3 detect Benzene and Xylenes just above 0.005 ppm detection
limits. Piping trench area to 14' bgs. Soil samples PI-1 thru PI-12
collected and only PI-2, PI-3, and PI-5 detect low levels of BTEX, not
greater than 25 ppm. TPH-G at 210 ppm in PI-2 at 10' bgs. Approx. 800
cubic yards excavated, eventually sampled, and hauled off site 6/2/92.
Clears back fill used to bring site back to grade.
