92
Page ]
I . Introduction
This work pian presents the proposed activities by Artesian Environmental Consultants,
(Artesian) at Exxon Service Station 7-3330 at 3128 West Ben Holt Drive in Stockton,
California(Figures 1 and 2).The station is presently inactive. By the time that the
proposed activities are approved and performed, the tanks, lines and pump islands will
have been removed. Groundwater occurs at about 14 feet below ground surface.
Groundwater flows toward the northeast. The depth of the excavation will be limited to the
top of groundwater. Based on the previous investigation (Artesian,July, 1991),soil and
groundwater did not contain detectable levels of hydrocarbons in monitor wells MW-4,
MW-5 and MW-6,the three wells in the northern and downgradient position on the
property.
1.1 SCOPE OF WORK
1 _
_ . Abandon MW-1 and MW-2,
2. Remove of soil containing hydrocarbons(documented in the Artesian July, 1991 report)
using a backhoe;
3. Using a state certified laboratory, select for analysis selected soil samples from I
excavation walls and floor,and stock piles for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
(TPH-g) by GCFID (5030)and benzene, toluene,ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEY) by
EPA Method 8020. If the analysis of the soil sarnples collected beneath the waste oil tank
during tank removal activities indicate leakage, soil samples collected in the excavation near
the waste oil tank will be analyzed for Total Oil and Grease{TOG)by Standard Method 5520
D and F,chlorinated hydrocarbons by EPA Method 8010 and the following metals:
cadmium,chromium, lead,zinc and nickel by atomic absorption. Optional tests include
analyses for PCB, PCP,PNA and creosote by EPA Method 8270;
4. Segregate soil and remove from the site to the appropriate landfills;
79L
