Groundwater samples will be collected with a Teflon bailer equipped with a ball-
check valve, and sample containers will be filled directly from the bailer as soon after
purging as possible. Samples will be analyzed for'[?H and BTX&E.
All bailers used for purging and/or sampling will be decontaminated before and after
sampling each well. The equipment will be rinsed with deionized water,cleaned with an
Alconox (brand-name) solution, and then ring-d three times with deionized water. The
nylon-hoisting line on the bailer will be simil-. y rinsed prior to sampling the next well.
Also, sounders used for measuring water l:.vels will be similarly decontaminated.
Sampling personnel will wear outer gloves while purging, and disposable inner gloves
while filling sample containers to prevent cross-contamination.
Thickness of possible free product will be monitored by using an electronic interface
probe with a + or- 0.01 ft- detection limit. This will be performed at the completion, 7
days after completion, and 14 days after completion of each well.
3.7 Disposal Plans For Soil And Water
All soil from boring operations, with the exception of soil submitted for laboratory
analysis, will be containerized on-site::in. well-specific, DOT-approved 55-gallon steel
drums. Similarly, all purged water from well development and pre-sampling purging will
be containerized on..site in DOT-approved 55-gallon steel drums.• Pro r lii bls-will be
affixed to each drum and labeled fully.
3.8 Field And Laboratory QA/QC
' Four formats are used in the field to document groundwater sampling and boring
installation:
- Field log book;
- Field data sheets;
- Sample labels; and
- Chain-of-custody form.
3.81 Field Log Book
All data is initially recorded into a field log book while in the field. Prior to going into
the field, the book is prepared for data entry related to boring and monitoring well
installation, water-level measurements, air-monitoring data, well-purging volumes,
temperature/pWspecific conductivity measurements, and sample-collection information
including sample ID, date and time, location and client, analysis and method, samplers'
initials, and laboratory. Also,any other pertinent information, such as conversations with
clients or descriptions of anomalous conditions, are entered.
3.5.2 Field Data Sheets
Field data sheets are filled out in the field for organization and documentation of
relevant data. These data sheets include: water level data sheet, groundwater sampling
field notes, air monitoring data sheet, and a geologic boring/well completion log.
-11-
1
172.32.R1 318191
