. l <br /> 2 <br /> Excavation Process <br /> The excavation was commenced on Monday,October 7, 1991 by Golden West, <br /> Environmental Services/Builders of Brentwood,California The tanks were <br /> uncovered. On October 8, 1992,the tanks were triple rinsed The tank rinse-out <br /> water was transported by Erickson Inc of Richmond,California to the state-Licensed <br /> Gibson Oil Pilot Petroleum Redwood City Facility(Appendix D) The tanks were <br /> purged of fuel gases with dry ice at 15 lb per 1,000 gallon capacity <br /> On October 9, 1991,the tanks were removed(Figures 3 and Appendix A) Oii site to <br /> review and manage the excavation were the following individuals Mr Harold <br /> Speelman of Golden West Environmental Services/Builders,General Contractor, <br /> California license#432103,Mr.Tien Borden of Borden and Sons Crane and <br /> Rigging,California license#92884, Mr Greg DeMarzo with Exxon, Construction <br /> and Maintenance Department, Mr Mike Infuma with the San Joaquin County <br /> Department of Health Services,Ms Pam Violett with the San Joaquin County Public <br /> Health Tank Group,Mr Ron Hiltshire with the Stockton Fire Department and Mr <br /> James A Jacobs with Artesian Environmental Consultants <br /> The 6,000, 8,000 and the 10,000 gallon tanks were removed from the tank areas <br /> using a crane supplied by Borden and Sons Crane and Rigging. All other activity on <br /> the site,including tank placement on the tricks,soil sampling in excavations and <br /> removal of the 1,000 gallon tank was performed by Golden West Environmental <br /> Services/Builders using a FMC Link-Belt Excavator Liquids were not encountered <br /> - in any of the tankholes The excavated soil,estimated to be approximately 450 to 500 <br /> cubic yards,was placed on and covered with visqueen The volume of the excavated <br /> soil covered approximately 100 of the site area <br /> Tank—1 -6.Q00 &al to premium unleaded gasoline tank <br /> Tank#1 (6,000 gallon)was removed from the excavation at 10 30 The county <br /> identification number was 39-1022-01 This tank was transported under the state <br /> manifest document number 90764781 (See Appendix D for the manifests) The tank <br /> was released by Greg DeMarzo of Exxon Co , U S A The transporter was Larry <br /> - Farnest of Rich Hamilton Trucking whose state transporter's identification number <br /> was 206784 and whose US EPA number was#CAD982471591 The designated <br />
