Additional Groundwater and Agriculture Drain Monitoring Work Plan
Residential Neighborhood G
April 18,2005
Page 5
The groundwater samples will be collected with a clean, disposable bailer and transferred to laboratory-
supplied containers. Each container will be labeled for sample identification and placed in a cooler chilled
with ice. Upon completion of the fieldwork, the groundwater samples will be delivered under chain-of-
custody procedures to a state certified laboratory for analysis.
4.5 SAMPLING FREQUENCY
Monitor wells will be sampled monthly for one year. Following the first year of sampling, the monitor
wells will be sampled semi-annually during the second and fourth quarters. The sampling events will be
coordinated with and conducted at the same time as the sampling of the previously-installed monitor
wells.
4.6 LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Groundwater samples collected from the three deep monitor wells intended to monitor groundwater will
be analyzed for total coliform, total dissolved solids, nitrate, and electrical conductivity. Water samples
collected from the three shallow monitor wells designed to intercept irrigation drainage, water will be
analyzed for total coliform, total dissolved solids, ammonia as nitrogen, nitrate as nitrogen, total nitrogen,
electrical conductivity, and biological oxygen demand. Tables IA and 113 summarize the laboratory
methods, detection limits, and holding times required in the MRP.
Table IA: Groundwater Monitoring Sample Plan
Type Methods Size of Container Preservatives Holding Times
Total Coliform Organism Grab 9221.B 125mL(plastic) See Note 24 hours
Total Dissolved Solids Grab 180.1 1 Liter(plastic) None" 7 days
combined
Groundwater Elevation Field
Nitrates(NO3) Grab 300 1 Liter(plastic) None" 48 hours
combined*
Electrical Conductivity Grab 120.1 1 Liter(plastic)
combined None" 28 days
Note: No preservative is used unless a high chlorine content is present; then sulfur is used to
dissolve the chlorine. -
*Sample is usually combined(Total Dissolved Solids,Nitrates,Electrical
Conductivity).
"Must be kept cool.
a CONDOR
