Additional Groundwater and Agriculture Drain Monitoring Work Plan
Residential Neighborhood G
April 18,2005
Page 7
5.4 LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Samples collected from agricultural drain monitor points will be analyzed for total coliform, ammonia as
nitrogen, nitrate as nitrogen, total nitrogen, electrical conductivity, and biological oxygen demand.
6.0 ADDITIONAL SOIL SAMPLING
6.1 SOIL SAMPLING LOCATION IDENTIFICATION
Eight soil samples will be collected, one surface sample and one sample one foot below the surface at
four different locations in the wastewater application area. Approximate soil sample locations are shown
on Figure 2.
6.2 SAMPLING FREQUENCY
Soil sampling will be conducted annually prior to the irrigation season, beginning in the Spring of 2006.
The soil sampling event will be coordinated with and conducted at the same time as the soil monitoring
for the existing reclamation areas.
6.3 SAMPLING PROCEDURE
The surface soil samples will be collected by loosening the soil with a stainless steel shovel. A stainless
steel spoon will be used to place loose soil into laboratory-supplied glass jars. The deeper soil samples
will be collected using the same procedure or using a stainless steel hand auger and transferring the soil
directly from the hand auger into laboratory-supplied glass jars. Each jar will be labeled for sample
identification and placed in a cooler chilled with ice. The stainless steel shovel, stainless steel spoon, and
stainless steel hand auger will be decontaminated in the field with a solution of laboratory-grade, non-
phosphate detergent and deicnized water, and rinsed with deionized water prior to the collection of each
individual sample. The soil samples will be delivered in coolers chilled with ice under chain-of-custody
procedures to a certified laboratory.
6.4 LABORATORY ANALYSIS
The surface sample and the sample from a depth of one foot below ground surface at each location will be
composited 2:1 and analyzed for pH, electrical conductivity, total nitrogen, and metals to include arsenic,
cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, mercury, molybdenum, nickel, selenium, and zinc.
7.0 REPORTING
A report with geologic logs and completion diagrams will be submitted to the MHCSD for transmittal to
the Regional Board upon completion of construction work. Results of the water sampling will be
tabulated in quarterly and annual monitoring reports and submitted to the MHCSD for transmittal to the
Regional Board on the schedule specified in the MRP.
8.0 LIMITATIONS
Condor developed the interpretations and conclusions presented herein in accordance with the generally
accepted principles and practice in use at the time the work was performed. Water quality monitoring of
any site is necessarily confined to selected locations and may change with time. Conditions may, and
often do,vary between and around these locations.
Condor has endeavored to determine as much as practical about the site using conventional practices
given our scope.of services. Conclusions presented in this work plan are professional opinions based on
limited information obtained at the time of our site visits. If any changes are made or errors found in the
ow1
IL CONDOR
