09 June 2003 F
"AGE-NC Project No. 95-0106
'. Pdge2of4
"Department of Health Services-certified analytical laboratory. for analysis. The samples were
analyzed for:
;.'
" Total petroleum ,hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with N
,EPA Method 8015-Modified, and
• Benzene,toluene, ethylbenzene, and-total xylenes (BTE&X)and methyl tern '
(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8021'. y tertiary-butyl ether
. 3A FINDINGS
Ground water elevation and flow direction were inferred from field data. The hydrocarbon impact •
'to ground water was.• uanti
q fieri by laboratory analysis of the ground water samples..
31. GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND FLOW DIRECTION.
The relative ground water elevation ranged from 33.00 feet (MW-6 upper) to 33.84 feet MW-2
decreasingan ( ) .
average of 0.27 feet since the December,2002 monitoring event. The water table
appears as'a northerly plunging ridge; the east limb of the ridge flows toward thenortheast at a
. gradient of approximately 0.004 fUft and the west limb flows toward the north-northwest at a
gradient of approximately 0..005 ft/ft. Ground water, elevation data is presented in Table 1 while the
'contoured ground water elevation data is shown ori,Figure 3.
3.2. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SIMPLES
Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the groundwater samples collected•frothmonitoring wells
MW-I and.MW_4'. TPH-g was detected in both wells at concentrations of 3,000 micrograms per liter
(µg11) and 5,400 µg/l,-respectively(Figure 4). Benzene was also detected at 55 0` I and 75
µ µg/1 in
samples MW=1 and MW-4; 'respectively. Other concentrations of volatile aromatic'compounds
detected in'samples MW-1 and MW-4 include 126 ig/l and 18 µg/1 oftoluene, 39 µg/i and 200µg/1
of ethylben2ene;;and'150 and 76 1 of t'
µ µg/ xylenes, respectively.
Neither TP'
H-g nor BTE&X compounds were detected in theground water samples from monitoring
wells MW-2, MW-3, MW-5,MW-6 (upper), MW-6 (lower) and MW-7.
MTBE was.not detected in 'an of the. • '`
y ground water samples. 'Analytical. results of ground water
samples are summarized on Table.2.•The laboratory report (MAI Lab IDs 0303425-OOIA through
0303425-008A
), QA/QC and chain-of-custody are included in Appendix C.
Advanced GeoEnvironmentaf,Inc.
