Submit the site
map to PHS/EHD so the boring locations can be evaluated.
The use of a organic vapor screening tool (PID or FID) was not discussed in the
work plan. An organic vapor screening tool must be available for use during this
investigation. Soil samples to be analyzed by the laboratory will be selected
based on the organic vapor screening tool readings and field personnel
(PHS/EHD and consultant) observations.
The vertical depth of the contamination near the location of the former UST
system should be determined first. The drilling contractor should be prepared to
drill to 110 feet below surface grade if required to determine the vertical depth.
Drilling should continue until field observations and organic vapor screening tool
readings indicate that there is two consecutive five feet intervals of non
contaminated soil. The second and third borings should be placed in locations to
show the lateral extent of the contamination, to a vertical depth of at least the
same depth of the first boring.
Destruction of borings must be by a cement or bentonite grout mixture. Submit
a PHS/EHD permit application and $89 permit fee for the borings. The work
must be performed by a well driller with a C57 license and the permit will be
issued to the C57 licensed driller. Once the permit has been issued, the work
can be scheduled with PHS/EHD staff so they may witness the investigation
activities.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
