 T '
4950 Bonham, Linden {
Page 2
unauthorized release of a hazardous substance from an underground storage
tank has occurred.
1+ Enclosed is a copy of the Notification of Hazardous Waste Discharge that was
filed by PHS/EHD for the above referenced site. A copy of this document was
faxed to your attorney on May 28, 1998. PHS/EHD makes this public notification
on all sites where an unauthorized release from a UST has'occurred. An
unauthorized release of petroleum into the soil or groundwater is an illegal
discharge of a hazardous waste. Since it is possible that dunking water
(groundwater) has been or may be impacted, it is possible (likely) that the
discharge could cause substantial injury to the public by their drinking the
contaminated groundwater. The requirement for the filing of this document is
i the result of the publics "right to know", so a copy of the document is not
normally provided to the discharger.
Until the lateral and vertical extent of contamination has been defined and
a remedial action performed as determined necessary, ;a Remedial Action
Completion certification will not be provided. As stated in the PHS/EHD letter
dated May 27, 1998, a work plan to define the lateral and vertical extent of the
p
diesel contamination at this site should be submitted by July 15, 1998.
t
If you have any questions contact me at (209) 468-3449.
+ Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
{ Margaret Lagorio, Supervising REHS
Site Mitigation Unit
c: CVRWQCB - Mark List
' Regina Boyle, Esq.
r
a
i
I .
