Mr. Kyle Christie
September 12, 1995
Page 2
Scope of Work
On August 18, 1995, BC personnel supervised the over drilling and abandonment of three on-
site groundwater monitoring wells. The well abandonment was conducted by Woodward
Drilling of Rio Vista, California.
Summary of Field Work
The well abandonment was conducted as described in BC's July 20, 1995 work plan (included
with this report as Appendix A) and in accordance with state and county well destruction
regulations. Mr. Harlin Knoll of the County was on site to witness the well abandonment.
The wells were abandoned under County well destruction permit number 006975. A copy of
the permit is included with this report as Appendix B.
The dill cuttings generated during the well abandonment process were stockpiled on site
enveloped in plastic. At the conclusion of the drilling, the soil stockpile was sampled for
disposal profiling. The stockpile sample was submitted to a ARCO contract laboratory for
analysis of benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, and xylenes(BETX),total petroleum hydrocarbons
as gasoline (TPH-G), using U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 8020 and
8015 Modified, reactive sulfides and cyanides by EPA Method 9010, corrosivity (pH) by EPA
Method 9045, Ignitability (flash point) by EPA Method 1010, and Soluble Threshold Limit
Concentration for lead by EPA Method 6010/7000 series. Upon receipt of the laboratory
report, BC will forward the results to ARCO's contracted soil disposal trucking company.
One 55-gallon drum of water was generated from the steam cleaning process. This water will
be disposed of by Integrated Wastestream Management.
ARCO has received a case closure summary letter from the County dated August 23, 1995.
The letter states that "based on the available information including current land use, and with
the provision that the information provided to this agency was accurate and representative of
site conditions, no further action related to the underground storage tank release is required.
A copy of the August 23, 1995 letter is included with this report as Appendix C.
Use or disclosure of data contained on this sheet is subject to the restriction specified at the beginning of this
document.
2697TREP0RTSDRU.LSUAWP5
