CVRWQCB has concerns with residual soil
contamination that has not been fully evaluated.
Additional information is needed to get this site to closure with NFAR. To further
evaluate the residual gasoline contamination in the soil beneath the former
gasoline underground storage tank (UST), a soil sample at 13 feet below ground
surface (BGS) on the southern end of the gasoline UST excavation should be
collected and analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) as gasoline,
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX). The sample results
should be compared to the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control
Board Environmental Screening Levels (SFBRWQCB ESL's). Also, the TPH as
diesel (TPH-d) contamination found in soil samples from geoprobe P1 requires
vertical definition and evaluation using SFBRWQCB ESL's.
In summary, the investigation is to define the vertical extent of the TPH-d
contamination at P1 and to evaluate current gasoline concentrations on the
southern end of the gasoline UST at 13 feet BGS. The results will then be used
to screen for health risks.
