Box 388, Stockton, - CA 95201 u
Attn: Donna Heran o '
Re: Geo F Schuler Inc
Site Code 2577
n
Dear Mrs Heron:
On August 24, 1944, we received a letter from your office nr,
stating that AHS-EHD requires sites within LOP to maintain tdweir ,
- -investigation-of the -nature of the documrented contamination
leaking underground tanks and that no reportl1had been received
since August 19, 1993. The letter furth.'er directed us to initi-
ate quarterly ground water monitoring antd sampling immediately
and to submit a proposal by Novermber 30'``, 1994, outlining the
next phase of investigation, including altime schedule showing
f dates that investigative procedures will} start, end, and dates
reports will be submitted to PHS-EHD.
The tone of your letter indicates that we have been remiss
in our efforts to clear our site of cont#aminlation. This is not
so. Our communications appear to have b'{roken down after we sub-
mitted a report from WHF Environmental Consultants dated August
17, 1993. We received no response to th!e information provided in
that report. We have applied for reimbursement through the
SB2004 program and have received acknowledge;inent of our submis-
sion from the State.
Due to the economy and its impact on the construction busi- #
nese we can no longer afford the luxury of all consultant. We will
attempt to complete the work after receipt of specific written
instructions as to investigation methods''`.
I
We have one monitoring well at the sitel The original test-
- ing- showed limited concentrationsofben.zeneil' and ethyl-benxene.u
We propose to sample this well and measure the ground water ele-
vation immediately. We plan to accept bids 'from various Tabora- .
tories to contract to provide this information. Please provide a
description of the desired analysis in wariting and state if a
representative of PHS-EHD need be present to!lwitness the sampling
procedure. `
At this time we are requesting that sampling be conducted
biannually. We have applied for reimbursement through the SB2004
program and would like to limit expenses until we receive a let-
i
ter of commitment.
;1
Yours truly,
I
