Mr. Michael Infurna November 26, 1991 <br /> 02324 1837 Page 2 <br /> TASK 3: SOIL SAMPLING <br /> Upon completion of the excavation, five soil samples will be taken as specified In the California Regional <br /> Water Quality Control Board LUFT Manual and determined by the site representative,from the bucket of the <br /> excavator (Figure 2). The soil sample will be screened for volatile compounds utilizing a photoionization <br /> detector. The soil samples will be described (using the Unified Soil Classification System) by a Groundwater <br /> Technology field geologist,working under the supervision of a California Registered Geologist. The sample <br /> will be sealed with aluminum foil, capped, taped, labeled, and placed on ice in an Insulated container. <br /> TASK 4: LABORATORY ANALYSES <br /> Groundwater Technology will submit the previously described soil sample to be analyzed by a State-certified <br /> laboratory for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX), total petroleum hydrocarbons-as- <br /> gasoline (TPH-G) by EPA-approved Methods 5030/8020/8015, and CAM Metals (Cd, Cr, Pb, Zn) using the <br /> STLC extraction method. \ <br /> : SOIL_STORAGE & SAL DISP N�� <br /> TASK <br /> 5 0 <br /> All soil generated during the site activities will be stored on site. Approximately, 139 cubic yards are <br /> currently stockpiled at the site pending characterization and disposal at an approved facility to be <br /> determined upon characterization of the final stockpile. Storage of the soil on site was witnessed and <br /> approved by Charlie Hunt of the San Joaquin Local Health District Environmental Health Division. <br /> • TASK 5: REPORT PREPARATION <br /> Groundwater Technology will prepare a letter report for submittal to the SJLHD summarizing the field <br /> activities. The report will include descriptions of all methodology, laboratory results, and plan drawings <br /> depicting former facilities and sampling locations. <br /> Groundwater Technology is prepared to begin work on this project immediately following approval of any <br /> required permits by the appropriate agencies.
