• •
AEI Project No. 337833
December 18, 2014
pesticide, insecticide, rodenticide manufacturer and distributor since 1955. Operations
reportedly include storing and blending bulk liquid fertilizers, sales and distribution of pre-
packaged dry fertilizers and liquid pesticides, and fueling of fleet vehicles used for delivering
products and applying the agricultural chemicals to crops. This site reportedly had a release of
VOCs fertilizers, and pesticides/herbicides to groundwater and has been open since March 7,
2011. Based on the inferred groundwater flow direction and relative proximity to the subject
property, the release at this site has the potential to impact the subject property.
3.0 Geology and Hydrogeology
According to USGS, soils in the area are as Quaternary-aged sedimentary deposits,
characterized by silty loams.
According to RWQCB GeoTracker, the depth to groundwater is between 33 - 78 feet below
ground surface (bgs). The regional topographic gradient direction is inferred to be to the
southwest. San Joaquin County Channel is located approximately 250 feet to the east.
4.0 Scope of Work
AEI was requested to perform additional investigation, including the collection of groundwater
and soil gas samples, to evaluate if the former agricultural operations had adversely impacted
the property.
Health and Safety, Permitting, and Utility Clearance
A site-specific health and safety plan will be prepared, reviewed by onsite personnel, and kept
onsite for the duration of the fieldwork. Drilling permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department for this investigation. The public underground utility
locating service USA North will be notified to identify public utilities in the work area. Private
utility locating will be conducted an independent utility locating company to identify
underground utilities on the property. This work will be performed under the oversight of a
licensed professional.
Drilling
The scope of work proposed consists of the drilling and logging of a total of 5 borings at the
property (Figure 2). The selected drilling contractor will hold a California C57 driller's license.
Soil borings will be advanced with truck-mounted direct push drilling rig.
The proposed boring locations, depths, and sample collection are based on evaluating the
impact of an offsite release which took place on the southern-most adjacent property.
Locations of the borings may be altered based on the utility survey findings particularly if
underground utilities are identified within the drilling areas and based on site access issues.
The borings are planned to be advanced to depths between 5 and 35 feet bgs. The purpose of
each boring is listed below:
