. 2 Topography, geology, Surface water, depth to groundwater :
The site is situated on levl terrain .adc.ent the S,ar, ioaquin
River and Buckley Cove and is comprised of dredged material . The
water table within the shallow sediments fluctuates with River
levels and tides, but is generally within ten feet of the
surface . The -3roundwater is believed to flow north with the Sian
Joaquin River .
2 . 9 Proximity of private, municipal and irrigation wells ;
The Buckley Cove development water supply comes from a domestic
we1:1 lacated approximately a quarter mile south of the site.
Vhts is.-- a_so the closest well .
2 . 10 Locations of nearby septic tanks and underground utilities :
Septic tanks within a quarter mile of the site are in use for
development . Utility locations will be determin_d prior to
initiating any subsurface exploration .
2 . 11 Distance to adjacent buildings and their water/sewer lines :
r
The club house and office are the nearest buildings as indicated
on Figure 2 . Utility laterals will be determined prior to
initiating any subsurface exploration .
t:.a
2. 1.2 Proposed sampling locations and methodology:
To assess the contribution of farmer underground tanks on the
stephen5 Anchorage property to the present groundwater
i ha contamination, WaterWork proposes to dtJ 11 and sample three
groundwater monitoring wells, an,i several shallow soil borings,
ITA if necessary.
r The following scope of work is proposed:
1 . Three soil borings will be advanced to a depth of 15 feet
below the water table to provide for the installation of
groundwater monitoring wells . Drilling will be conducted under a
C57 license, using a hollow stem auger drill rig. The proposed
well locations, presented on Figure 2, include one well
upgradient of the tank pit, and two wells down groundwater
i & gradient from the former tank location . The wells will be
constructed of two inch diameter F480 PVC well screen/casing and
completed as shown on Figure 3 . to addition, shallow soil
borings ( 4 foot maximum depth) may be drilled to assess the
s extent of near surface soil contamination. The soil borings
would be abandoned by filling with cement grout .
