Ms. Antonia Vorster
March 6, 1991
Page Two
Finally, results from two rounds of samples collected from six monitoring wells located
near two former underground storage tanks located in Area 1 have indicated that
ground-water quality in this area has not been adversely affected by fuel-affected soils
in the vicinity of the tanks. The affected soil has been excavated, aerated in accordance
with the San Joaquin Valley Air Quality District requirements, and disposed off site.
We therefore propose to abandon the monitoring wells in this area.
We would appreciate a written confirmation from the Regional Water Quality Control
Board (RWQCB) that the actions taken to address the potential concerns in each of
these areas have satisfied current RWQCB requirements, and that, barring new
information that conflicts with the conclusions reached, no further action will be
required. As soon as we receive such confirmation, we intend to proceed with
obtaining permits for well abandonment from the County.
We understand that Mr. Tom Peltier, who has been the case officer for this site, is no
longer with the RWQCB. Please don't hesitate to contact Ms. Beth Gurney or Mr.
Chuck Pardini of Levine-Fricke if you have any questions concerning the investigations
that have been performed at the site.
Sincerely,
Kevin P.
