Areas of potential concern
at the Brookside property were identified as Area 1, Area 3, and the Ripkin property.
A list of the reports prepared by Levine-Fricke concerning these areas, which have
been provided to your agency (Mr. Tom Peltier) and to the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Division, is provided in Attachment A to the summary.
Based on these investigations, no evidence was found to indicate adverse impacts on
ground-water quality in the vicinity of a reported former underground storage tank at
the Ripkin property. We therefore propose to abandon the ground-water monitoring
well installed in this area. Similarly, no adverse ground-water impacts were detected in
the milk-barn area of Area 3, and we also propose to abandon this well.
Three quarterly rounds of ground-water samples have been collected for analysis from
the vicinity of a former above-ground diesel fuel tank located in Area 3. During the
last sampling round in April 1990, only trace concentrations of diesel fuel (0.7 mg/1)
and toluene (0.001 mg/1) were detected in Area 3 wells. These results indicate that
residual concentrations of diesel fuel in soil have had minimal effect on ground-water
quality. In light of these data, we propose to abandon the wells in this area. Diesel-
affected soil excavated from this area has been removed from the site to Forward, Inc.
in Stockton for treatment and disposal.
GRUPE DEVELOPMENT COMPANY- NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
2291 W.
