The purpose of this investigation is to assess the poten-
tial presence of environmental contaminants associated with cur-
rent and past activities at the site. The changes made to the
original sampling and analysis plan were based upon information
obtained during our assessment of background information concern-
ing the subject property, and our field inspection, historical
review, and regulatory record review on the property conducted to
date (Tasks 1-3 of Work order Number 1) .
our overall strategy for investigating the subject property is
essentially the same as that proposed in the Work order, We pro-
pose to conduct two types of sampling: soil sampling at randomly--
selected locations within the field areas of the subject prop-
erty, and targeted sampling of both soil and ground water at spe-
cific locations where site activities appear to indicate a higher
likelihood of release of chemicals to the subsurface. For the
first type of sampling, we propose to divide the subject property
into eight units, based roughly on crop history and parcel bound-
aries. Soil samples: will be collected from shallow borings at
four to five locations within each unit, and samples from each
unit will be composited by depth into one sample for laboratory
analysis.
At the targeted locations, soil and/or ground-water samples will
be collected at selected locations. These samples will not be
composited, but will be analyzed discretely for the suspected
types of compounds. We propose to collect soil samples at 10
targeted locations, and water rumples at 12 targeted locations on
the subject property. in addition, two surface water and twc
near-surface sediment samples will be collected for analysis, one
of each from each of two drainage ditches that transact the sub-
ject property. 1400 Power street, 12th Floor
Emeryville, COYOMIO 94608
(415) 652-4500
Other off,ces in NEWPORT BEACH and OAKLAND, CA
