Section 1.0
' Introduction
1.3 Purpose and Scope of Services.!
f
jThe purpose of CDM's study was to obtain relevant site information regarding the
geotechnical and environmental conditions to develop specific design criteria relating
to the construction of the temporary excavation support system.
Specifically,our services included:
■ Performing subsurface investigation was to characterize the engineering
properties of the soil and groundwater elevation in the vicinity of the new wall.
■ Evaluating potential soil and groundwater contamination to allow planning for
proper handling procedures for future soil excavation and construction
dewatering.
■ Evaluating various construction alternatives and recommend the(most
appropriate option(s).
i .Developing conclusions and design recommendations for the recommended
4 option(s) including:
Lateral earth'pressures for the permanent and-temporary support walls.
- Backfill materials including evaluation for suitability of the onsite
materials for use as backfill, requirements for imported fill,"fill placement,
and compaction. '
f
Stability of the pump station and the wet pit during construction.
t. A liquefaction analysis is not included in our scope of work, and, therefore, was not:
i .
completed. (The subsurface conditions suggest that the sandy layer located between
25 and 35 feet bgs is liquefaction susceptible, and, thus, this report does recommend a
liquefaction study be performed.)
CDM c..,p Dsur sz McKee h= 1-2
j i 0:1250042824"Eo-T4-ReparttBmokside Pump StAon.doc
