Report—Pit Closure Page 2 <br /> 612 N.Buena Vista Ave. <br /> Project No. 480.2 <br /> September 26, 2007 <br /> In a directive dated September 12, 2006, the RWQCB directed that additional <br /> work be completed to establish the background salt concentration of <br /> groundwater in this area and to further define the lateral extent of the salt <br /> plume. The directive also required the destruction of the salt pit. <br /> This report documents the destruction of the brine pit and the collection of <br /> additional groundwater data. <br /> 3.0 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The following tasks were completed,to accomplish during this scope of work: <br /> ' . Drilled a Geo-Probe soil boring and collected a groundwater sample to <br /> investigate the background concentration of chlorides and dissolved solids <br /> in the groundwater, <br /> • Destroyed the concrete-lined brine pit, <br /> ' • Removed about 25 yards of salt-impacted soil from beneath the pit, and, <br /> • Drilled and constructed a new down-gradient monitoring well to more <br /> fully investigate the lateral extent of salt impact to the groundwater. <br /> ' 2937 Veneman Ave.,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
