Report - Soil Boring Installation Page 5
612 N. Buena'Vista Ave.
Project No. 480.2
March 9, 2005
3.0 FIELD & ANALYTICAL DATA
3.1 Site Geology and Hydrology
Site Geology Observed During Investigation
A detailed log was made of the boring. The information noted includes such data
' as sample depths, horizons of detectable contamination (detected by field
methods), soil- classification utilizing the Unified Soil Classification System and
sediment description (color, texture, composition, hardness, moisture content,
' and post-depositional changes that have occurred in the sediments).
The shallow soil encountered during the investigation can broadly be
' characterized as native (undisturbed) silt and clay. The following is an
interpretation of the soils observed during the investigation. A copy of the
boring log is included in Appendix B.
' Sit
o Boring B_1
I to 16'Below Ground Surface {BGS}
' The material in this interval generally consisted of silty clay and clayey silt. A
groundwater sample was collected to test for salinity.
Soil Boring
I to 16'BGS
' The material in this interval generally consisted of silty clay and clayey silt. A
groundwater sample was collected to test for salinity.
Soil Boring B-3
I to 9'BGS
The upper 9 to 10 feet consisted of non-native sand, which was interpreted to be
' pit fill material. The 8-foot sample was stained and exuded a strong gasoline
odor.
9 to 12'BGS
The material in this interval generally consisted of native silty clay and clayey
silt. The 12-foot soil sample was not stained but exuded a strong gasoline odor-
It was deemed appropriate to collect a groundwater sample by use of a
HydroPunch sampling tool, which was driven to a total depth of 15 feet, then
opened and sampled.
Groundwater was encountered approximately 8 to 9 feet below grade
2937 Veneman Ave., #B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
