eport -Soil Boring Installation Page 4
612 N. Buena Vista Ave.
' Project No. 480.2
March 9, 2005
soil samples were sealed with plastic end caps and labeled. One sample, 133-12
' Ft, was separated and preserved for laboratory analysis. Copies. of the boring
logs are attached as Appendix B.
' Prior to completing each Geo-Probe boring, a groundwater sample was collected
from near the base of the boring. In borings B-1 and B-2, the hollow drill rods
were driven or hammered to the desired depth and then rods retracted and
replaced with a 3-foot section of 1-inch diameter well screen conveyed with blank
tubing. A groundwater sample from the Geo-Probe boring was then collected by
oscillating a clean dedicated section of Teflon tubing fitted with a check valve,
which was inserted inside of the hollow stem of the Geo-Probe. Sample material
was collected in 40 ml glass VOA vials and/or a 1 liter amber glass bottle. Each
' sample container was then sealed, labeled and placed in a cooler chilled to 4
degrees C. for transport to a State certified laboratory and chain of Custody
protocol.
' In the case of MW-3 the water sample p e was collected using a HydroPunch
t sampling device- This step was taken to prevent possible cross-contamination
from gasoline-impacted soil immediately below the tank pit. The HydroPunch
device is a steel probe that is driven 3 to 4 feet into the undisturbed soil.. The
'. outside sheath is then retracted which exposes a well screen to the undisturbed
groundwater. The water sample is then produced into sample containers using
the same method described above.
1
I
•
2937 Veneman Ave.; #13240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
