02 May 2008
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0440
bsg to 79 feet bsg based on previously acquired CPT-lithology data indicating favorable conditions
for sampling ground water. All rinseate generated during drilling activities was containerized in
properly labeled DOT-approved 55-gallon drums, and was stored on-site in an area lacking public
access. All soil borings were backfilled over their entire depth with a portland cement grout mix.
Following sample collection, each preserved sample was logged on a chain-of-custody form, placed
in a chilled container and transported to a California Department of Public Health(CDPH)-certified
laboratory for analysis for:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel(TPH-g and TPH-d),by EPA
Method 8015M;
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX), fuel additives ethylene dibromide
(EDB), 1,2-dichloroedme (1,2-DCA), oxygenated compound methyl-tertiary butyl ether
(MTBE),tertiary butanol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl tert butyl ether(ETBE),
and tert amyl methyl ether(TAME)by EPA Method 8260.
2.5. LABORATORY RESULTS OF"GRAB" GROUND WATER SAMPLES
A total of two "grab"ground water samples were collected from boring CPT-1, at 64 feet bsg and
75 feet bsg,and submitted for laboratory analysis for the above mentioned constituents.TPH-g was
detected in both ground water samples collected,at concentrations of 110 micrograms per liter(µg/1)
in the sample collected from 64 to 69 feet bsg and at 2,900 µg/1 in the sample collected from 75 to
79 feet bsg. Ethylbenzene and Xylenes were detected in the grab ground water samples collected
from 64 feet to 69 feet bsg,at concentrations of 9.5 µg/1 and 12µg/1,respectively.BTEX compounds
were detected in the ground water sample collected from 75 feet to 79 feet bsg,at concentrations of
11 µg11, 9.0 µg/1,41 µg/1 and 110 µg/1,respectively.
No other petroleum hydrocarbon constituents or fuel oxygenated compounds were detected by the
laboratory analyses. The laboratory reports(Cal Tech Environmental Laboratory I.D.No.0711080)
and chain-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix B. Analytical results of the ground water
samples are summarized in Table 1.
Advanced GeoEnvironmentai,Inc.
