MONITORING.WELL DEVELOPMENT f
On 04 November 2002, monitoring,wells MW7 through MW10 were developed.utilizing a,steel
' bailer and a two-stage submersible pump."Ground water was purged from each well until ground
water was visually sediment free;approximately 24 gallons,were removed from MW8 and 30 gallons ,
were removed from wells MW7, MW9 and MW 10. Purged groundwater was containerized in
' properly labeled DOT-approved 55-gallon drums and was stored on-site. Field sheets aid data are
included in Appendix B
2.6. WELL MONITORING AND EVACUATION
' "On 12 December 2002,monitoring wells MW 1 throe1VfW l 0were purged and sampled.ed.A Sohnst
water level meter was used to measure the depth'to groundwater to the nearest 0.01-foot in the ten
' monitoring wells relative to the tops of the well casings.•The ground water elevations and gradient
were determined from these data(Table 1).
• -After recording water level measurements, new disposable plastic, bailers were used to purge each
monitoring well of, standing water, Between six and eight gallons of water a minimum f
g. ( o-
3 casing-water volumes per well)were removed from each well. Ground water temperature,pH'and
conductivity were measured at regular intervals during purging using an Oakton water analyzer.
Field sheets and data'are included in Appendix C. Purge_ d water was stored on-site'in labeled,
55-gallon'DOT-approved drums.
2.7. COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
A water sample was collected from each'purged, well using a new disposable plastic bailer and
transferred into one 1-liter aniber•bottle without sample preservative and into three 40-m1 VOA vials
containing 0.5 ml 1.86/G hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative. After collection, the samples were
properly labeled, placed in a chilled container and transported under chain-of.custody to MAI.Each
sample was analyzed for:
Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified'as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d,
respectively)-by EPA Method 8015M;' and '
Benzene,toluene,ethyl benzene and xylene(BTEX)'and methyl-tertiary,butyl ether(MTBE)
%by EPA,Method 8021.
Advanced GeoEnviroumeiiiA Inc.
