t "
29 April 2005' ,
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0440; ;
Page 3 of 18
been reported.
• The well located at 5225 West Business Loop 205 (DW-5225) which supplies water to the
IF r
residents'of 5225 West Business Loop;205: is-located 250 feet north of the site. The well is
located cross-to dawn-gradient of the former UST area. Permission to sample this
wwell was .
denied by the well owner. However;wells MW-3 and MW-10,which are situated between .'
well DW-5225 and the former UST area-indicate that the petroleum hydrocarbon plume is
not migrating beyond these wells., .. `
The well located at 5055 West Business Loop 205 (DW-5055)tivhich.supplies wat&'to the
San Joaquin Valley Hay Growers Association is located 200 feet northeast of.the site in the
i. down gradient direction. .DW-5055'has been sampled-for TPH'g and BTEX compounds
routinely over the past`2 years. No detections of TPH-g or benzene,have'been reported.
No additional wells were located within 2,000 feet of the subject property on the DWR database or
the SJCFC&WCD map.No other wells were identified during the physical survey. Figure 3 depicts '
the approximate location of the water wells located during the well search within a 2,000 foot radius
of the site. Copies of the well driller's reports are included as Appendix B.
2.4. UST REMOVAL
It is our understanding that six USTs were removed from the site in Au ust'1989. The USTs'ranged
in volume up to 10,000 gallons. During:tank removal activities; three grab groundwater samples
'F were collected.from the tank pit excavation. Laboratory analysis of the•grab,ground,water samples
detected'Volatile aromatics (benzene,toluene, ethylbenzene'and xylenes: BTEX)at concentrations
ranging as high as 120,00Q.rnicrograms per liter:µg/1;benzene was detected at concentrations as high .
as 7,700 4g/1..The highest BTEX concentrations were detected„in the water sample collected from '
the north'portion of the excavation: =
Soil samples were collected from the base 6f.the piping trench'asWell as thesidewalls and base'of.
the 'UST removal excavation. The”laboratory analysis „detected' tetraethyl, lead (TEL) at .a
concentration of 1,200 micrograms per,kilograin:,µ?/kg in a'soil sample collected from the eastern
portion of the UST removal excavation. The laboratory.'detected total'petroleum hydrocarbons
quantified as gasoline(TPH-g)at concentrations'ranging as high as 1,700;000µg/kg,The laboratory ;
detected'BTE.X at concentrations ranging as high' as 370,000 µg/kg;'I:the, greatest benzene
t 'concentration was 12,000'µg/kg.The highest TPH-g and BTEX concentrations were deteeted-in the
samples'collected from the east portion of the UST removal'excavation.
1 Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
