A hazardous waste generator shall not treat, store, dispose <br /> of, transport or offer for transportation, hazardous waste without a hazardous waste ID number. Go to the DTSC <br /> web site http://www.dtsc.ca.gov/IDManifest/PERMHVMD.cfm for the form to reactivate the ID number. Immediately <br /> reactivate your State ID number and submit evidence to the EHD. <br /> This is a minor violation. <br /> 102 CCR 66262.11 Failed to determine if a waste is a hazardous waste. <br /> Metal fines were observed on a drill press. According to the maintenance supervisor, metal fines generated from <br /> grinding work in the maintenance shop is usually thrown away into the trash without first determining particle size or <br /> hazardous properties. Any person who generates a waste shall determine if the waste is a hazardous waste. <br /> Immediately cease this method of disposal, make a hazardous waste determination for all metal waste, and manage <br /> it according to Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Particles 100 microns or smaller must be handled as <br /> hazardous waste if the metal is determined to be a hazardous waste. Submit a statement and supporting <br /> documentation explaining how the metal on the drill press will be managed and how future metal waste will be <br /> managed. <br /> Throughout the facility, used oily absorbent was observed on the ground. Used absorbent was observed in the <br /> trash. No disposal records for used absorbent were found. Any person who generates a waste shall determine if <br /> the waste is a hazardous waste. Immediately cease disposal of all used absorbent, make a hazardous waste <br /> determination for the waste, and manage it according the Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Submit a statement <br /> and supporting documentation explaining how this waste was managed. <br /> The facility has several forklifts. No coolant records were observed during the inspection.Any person who <br /> generates a waste shall determine if the waste is a hazardous waste. Immediately make a hazardous waste <br /> determination for the coolant waste, and manage it according the Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Submit a <br /> statement and supporting documentation explaining how this waste was managed. <br /> Two aerosol cans(one labeled Brake Cleaner and the other Rust-Oleum Primer)were observed in the trash can <br /> with some content inside the cans. The cans were taken out of the trash during the inspection and placed inside a <br /> unviversal aerosol can waste drum. This was corrected on site. <br /> This is a minor violation. <br /> 104 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) No modified contingency plan. <br /> An emergency coordinator and modified contingency plan information is lacking. There must be at least one <br /> emergency coordinator on site or on call to coordinate emergency response measures, and the following <br /> information must be posted by a phone: the name and phone number of the emergency coordinator; location of fire <br /> extinguishers, spill control equipment, and if present, fire alarm; and the phone number of the fire department, <br /> unless the facility has a direct alarm. Immediately appoint an emergency coordinator and post the required <br /> information by a phone.
