Soil discoloration and petroleum odor were also noted lin this location. Soil and water sample
results received from GeoAnalytical Labs revealed that soil sample"SI2"and the sample of"excavation water",
both,obtained from this same.area, exhibited contamination. i
l PHS-EHD utilizes the "State Leaking Underground Fuel Tank(LUFT) Manual" and the "Tri-Regional Board
Staff Recommendations" when evaluating tank closure field inspection and soil/water sampling results.
According to the Tri-Regional Recommendations,if a tank system failure is evident,such as holes in the tank
or the presence of stained soil, further soil or groundwater investigation is necessary.
Based on this information and the documented contamination discovered at this site,it is recommended that
you contact the PHS-EHD Site Mitigation Unit at (209) 468-3450;for additional guidance regarding this ,
matter. }
Ron Valinoti,R.E.H.S., Director E
Environmental Health Division
Donna Heran, R.E.H.S., Program Manager
Environmental Health Division M t
RV/bs.
A Division of Fan Joaquin County Health Care st, Ccs
I
