Included in this task is Levine-Fricke time
for preparing the permit application and interfacing with the
SJLHD, SJLHD permit fees and charges for accelerated review, and
SJLHD charges for field inspection of well grouting.
Task 2: Well Installation
Levine-Fricke will subcontract a well driller for drilling and
installation of the wells. Four shallow (approximately 20-foot
deep) wells are anticipated to be installed, at the locations
shown on Figure 3 . The wells will be drilled with a hollow-stem
auger rig and will consist of 2-incl diameter Schedule-40 PVC.
The bottom 10 feet of the well will be screened with
factory-milled 0.20-inch slots. The slotted section of well
casing will be surrounded with Monterey #3 sand or equivalent. A
1-foot thick bentonite seal will be set above the slotted
section. The upper blank section of the well casing will be
surrounded with cement grout containing a maximum 4 percent
bentonite. A locking top will be placed at the surface of the
well.
During drilling of the wells, soil samples will be collected at
minimum 5-foot intervals. The samples will be screened for the
possible presence of petroleum using a photo--ionization detector
(PID) . The drilling and soil sampling equipment will be
steam-cleaned between wells. No petroleum-based lubricants will
be used on the augers or samplers. iSoil cuttings will be
contained on the Site pending receipt of laboratory results, at
which time disposal options will be evaluated.
Task 3 : Well 3 : Well Development and GroundLwater_Samplingand GroundLwater_Sampling
After the wells have been installed and the grout has set, the
wells will be developed and sampled'. Prior to sampling, the well
-2-
