LEVINE•FRICKE
elevations will be measured by a Licensed California Surveyor and
the depths to static water will be measured in each well. The
wells will be developed by purging five to ten well volumes of
water from each well . When the pH, ' conductivity, and sediment
content of the purged water have stabilized, samples will be
collected using a clean Teflon bailer. The samples will be
placed into 40-m1 vials free from trapped air, labelled, and
placed in a chilled ice chest for delivery to a State-certified
laboratory. Strict chain-of-custody protocols will be followed
during sample handling.
Purged water generated during well development will be contained
in drums on site until analytical results are available.
Task 4 : Laboratory Analyses
It is anticipated that, in addition, to the four ground-water
samples, two soil samples from eachlboring will be submitted to
the laboratory for chemical analysis. The soil samples will be
analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) and for the fuel
hydrocarbons benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) .
The analyses will be performed by Med-Tax Associates Laboratory
in Pleasant Hill, California, using'IEPA Methods 8015 and 8020.
The sample preparation method will be conducted in accordance
with EPA Method 3500. i
f
Task 5: Data Evaluation and Report Preparation
The field and laboratory data collected will be evaluated to
assess the ground-water quality andlflow gradient. The need for
further monitoring and possible remediation will also be
evaluated. A report which summarizes the well installation,
analytical methods and results, and data reduction will be
prepared. This report will includela summary and conclusions
with recommendations; lithologic logs of the wells and laboratory
data sheets will also be included.
Task 6: Project Management and Meetings
This task includes scheduling and coordinating subcontractors,
project and budget review, and telephone conversations with
Sunboro. The project manager for this project will be John
Sturman, Project Geotechnical Engineer. The field operations
will be directed by Charles Pardini; Staff Geologist. Tom
Johnson, R.G. and Principal Hydrogeologist, will provide overall
project review.
f
-3-
I
