Vertically, soil and groundwater impacts are defined by non <br /> detect for TPH compounds in samples obtained at 48 feet from boring MH1-1. <br /> A well survey for domestic wells within one-half mile of the project revealed that three private wells <br /> were identified cross-gradient to the site, two are southeast and one is northwest. Review of Department <br /> of Water Resources well completion records indicate that the three wells were completed with at least a <br /> 35 to 50-foot sanitary surface seal, These surface seals extend below the shallow groundwater(occurs <br /> approximately 12 to 18 feet) that occurs at this site. Considering the depths of the sanitary seals coupled <br /> with the distance from the project site, dissolved petroleum constituents likely will not affect these <br /> domestic wells. <br /> Consequently, review of the reports indicates that the extent of impacted soil and groundwater has been <br /> adequately delineated. Removal of impacted soil containing elevated concentrations of hydrocarbons <br /> may not be feasible given that the majority lies beneath the railroad, Byron Road, a portion of Mountain <br /> House Creek, including the new bridge at the Mountain House# 1 project site. We concur that <br /> additional work is not needed at this time. <br /> Previously, Regional Board staff concurred with a plan to evaluate and recommend remedial options for <br /> accelerating product removal and/or removal of impacted soils at ChevronTexaco's Minnesota Avenue <br /> OVP site. The findings and recommendations are to be submitted by 1 April 2005 for review by <br /> Regional Board staff. Following review of the findings, further investigations and/or remediation <br /> options may be evaluated for Mountain House Site# 1. <br /> Regional Board staff cannot make any final determinations until a human health risk assessment has <br /> been conducted.
