Chevron Pipeline Easement Environmental Assessment Report <br /> November 21,2001 <br /> Page 5 <br /> 3.5 LABORATORY ANALYSES <br /> Soil samples were analyzed for total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons quantitated against crude oil <br /> (TEPH-C) by GC/MS Combination. Most soil samples that had detectable concentrations of TEPH-C <br /> were analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX).by EPA Method 8260; and <br /> for polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PNAs) by EPA Method 8270. Additionally, if no soil sample <br /> collected from soil borings during the course of one day had detectable concentrations of TEPH-C, the <br /> soil sample collected that day that had the highest PID measurement was analyzed for BTEX and PNAs. <br /> Analytical methods used and practical quantitation limits (PQLs)are listed in Table 1, below. <br /> Table 1.
