20,
kAq KLEINFELDER
' .An employee owned company
F8 0 9 2005
File No. 51726 I:NT HEALTH
February 8, 2005 pfc4 flI/lf
Mr. Wendell Krell
San Joaquin Regional Transit District
1533 East Lindsay Street
Stockton, California 95205
Subject: Report
' Limited Soil Sampling and Analysis
SJRTD Site "O"
Southeast Corner of N. Sutter
' And E. Channel Streets
Stockton, California
' Dear Mr. Krell:
This report presents analytical results for soil samples collected in the vicinity of a former
' gasoline station at the above-referenced site. This report presents a summary of our field
activities, observations, analytical results and conclusions.
' BACKGROUND
Kleinfelder contracted with San Joaquin Regional Transit District (SJRTD) on an "On-Call"
' basis during redevelopment and construction at the above referenced site. The site is currently
being developed as a new SJRTD Base of Operations. Kleinfelder was contacted by Mr. Krell of
SJRTD who explained that a petroleum like odor was noted from soil during grading activities in
the northwest corner of the site (southeast corner of N. Sutter and E. Channel Streets). Based on
a 1950 Sanborn Fire Insurance Map, Kleinfelder was also aware that a gas-station was located
previously in the area the odors were noted. The Sanborn Map however did not depict any
' associated underground storage tanks near this former gas station. See Appendix C for a copy of
the 1950 Sanborn Map. Plate 1 depicts an approximate overlay of the former gas station based
on the 1950 Sanborn Map.
' PURPOSE
' The purpose of the soil sampling and analyses was to conduct a screening level survey of
selected petroleum constituents in the area of the site in which soil discoloration and a petroleum
like odor had been noted during excavation activities.
51726/ST05R157/DH:ly Page 1 of 7
°2005,Kleinfelder,Inc.
