A grab groundwater sample from a boring had a reported 560,000 micrograms per liter TPH diesel.,
though of course this needs to be confirmed with wells.
There is an approved work plan to continue the investigation at this site, and install wells, but the city has no
money to implement it at this time.
Lori
From: Gareth Stamp [ma iIto:GStamp@waterboards.ca.gov]
Sent: Tuesday, August 24, 2010 3:25 PM
To: Lori Duncan [EH]
Subject: RE: State Water Resource Control Boards Soils Only Case Follow Up Program
Lori,
Thanks for the quick response. Do you think the media of concern on the 216 California site should be
Soils only?
Thanks,
Gareth Stamp
>>> "Lori Duncan [EH]" <Iduncan@sjcehd.com> 8/24/2010 2:27 PM >>>
Gareth,
The responsible party for these three sites is the City of Stockton. The first two are located on the north
shore of the deepwater channel. There are several other sites in the same area; all site work at them was
suspended when the city did a major re-development of the properties and built a new hotel, arena and
ball park. Work was to resume when they finished construction, but the city did not follow through with
this, and they now are broke. Closure at these locations could be expedited with adequate funding.
The third site, 216 California, is more recent. Site assessment has begun, but not gotten very far. Grab
groundwater samples indicate the site is very dirty, but again, the city is broke and has not continued
with the site investigation. The assessment of this site is wholly incomplete, and it should not be closed.
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
Iduncan(a)sicehd.com
(209)468-0337 phone
(209)468-3433 fax
From: Gareth Stamp [mailto:GStamp@waterboards.ca.gov]
Sent: Monday, August 23, 2010 12:04 PM
To: Lori Duncan [EH]
Cc: Benjamin Heningburg
Subject: State Water Resource Control Boards Soils Only Case Follow Up Program
8/24/2010
