install replacement wells for MW#1,MW#2,and MW#3.These replacement wells were installed to
correct an over-screen condition of the existing monitoring wells. Also, included in this work plan
was the installation of three CPTs.To date CPT#1,CPT#2 and CPT#3 have been installed. Soil and
groundwater samples extracted during the installation of CPTs indicate gasoline contamination to a
depth of eighty-five feet(see a recap attached).
On May 2 and 3, 2000 the soil borings for both MW#5 and MW#6 were made as described in the
Work Plan of 3/17/2000.Monitoring wells were installed in both of these soil bores. The Work Plan
of 3/17/2000 also included a soil bore and monitoring well (MW#4)to be installed in the sidewalk
on the north side of Lafayette Street. This soil bore was not completed as planned. An unknown
underground storage tank was encountered in the direct path of the soil bore. As a result of this
encounter, the soil bore was abandoned and the local agencies were notified. A recap of the results
of sample analysis for MW#5 and MW#6 are attached.
CPT#3 was installed on June 13,2000 in the Caltrans right of way. This CPT is northeast of the site,
and the data gathered is attached.
All monitoring wells have been sampled quarterly, and a recap of the findings is attached.
WORK PLAN FOR INSTALLATION OF FOUR MONITORING WELLS IN TWO
SOIL BORES
Soil Bore Drilling and Sampling
Soil bores will be drilled with an eight-inch hollow stem auger. The soil borings for MW#7D&S and
MW#8D&S will be sampled beginning at twenty feet of depth on five foot intervals with a standard
BX split spoon soil sampler. Sample tubes will be capped with teflon sheets and sealed with a plastic
cap and duct tape. Each sample will be placed on ice for transport to a certified laboratory under
chain of custody.
Well Placement
Monitoring wells MW#7S and MW#7D (nested wells in a single bore hole) will be located in the
southeast corner of the site. Monitoring wells MW#8S and MW#8D will be located in a single bore
hole located in the driveway on the eastside of the building directly east of the site (see an attached
map). This building is owned by the Michael D. & Sharon Olivarez, and access is available on
request.
Monitoring Well Construction
This plan calls for the placement of two soil bores to a depth of one hundred and twenty-five feet.
Each soil bore will have two monitoring wells installed. A shallow well will be installed at first
groundwater and a deep monitoring well will be installed at one hundred and twenty-five feet(see
well construction detail attached).
The shallow monitoring wells will have an one nch VC asing and will be screen from a depth
of twenty feet to forty feet. The deep monitoring els will be constructed of one ' ch PVC c ing
and have a five-foot screen section to a total depth of one hundred and twenty-five feet.
