Monitoring Well Sampling
All new monitoring wells will be developed and purged. After purging, each well will be sampled
by the dedicated tube method. Samples will be transported under ice and chain of custody to a State-
certified laboratory. The static groundwater elevation will be determined before purging.
Sample Analysis
Soil samples will be analyzed by EPA methods 8020 (BETX), 5030/8015(M) (TPH Gasoline)and
8260(oxygenates). Water samples will be analyzed by EPA methods 602 (BETX), 5030/8015(M)
(TPH Gasoline) and 8260(oxygenates). Soil sample analysis by EPA method 8260 for oxygenates
will be limited to selected samples to conserve resources.
WORK PLAN FOR INSTALLING THREE CPTS
CPT Placement
This plan is to place three CPTs in the Caltrans Right of Way to the northeast of the site to a depth
of one hundred feet. CPT#4 will be located 150' directly down gradient from the UST location.
CPT#5 will be placed to the north of CPT#4 and 200' northeast of the UST location. CPT#6 will
be placed east of existing CPT#3 at a distance of 200'from the UST location(see a site map attached
for actual location of CPTs).
CPT Sampling and Analysis
Soil samples from the CPTs will be extracted at approximately 30', 55', and 100'feet of depth from
each CPT. Groundwater samples will be extracted from the most permeable strata as shown by the
CPT log. Samples for both soil and groundwater may be extracted at depths lower than 100' if
conditions indicate that action.Samples will be transported under ice and chair:of custody to a State-
certified laboratory.
REPORTS AND FUTURE ACTION
Report of Findings
An engineering report of the findings for each soil bore and CPT with soil and water sample analysis
will be issued after the work is completed. The report covering only the CPT work may be separate
from the report on soil borings due to delays is obtaining a Caltrans permit for Right-of-Way access.
Recommendations for any future action will be contained in the latest report.
Future Quarterly Monitoring Well Sampling
After all new monitoring well construction has been completed, quarterly monitoring of all wells will
begin and continue until terminated by PHS/EHD.
Use of Available Funds
The Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund Program has not allocated the funds to this site to
complete this Work Plan. The owner will complete portions of this Work Plan as funds become
available from the Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund Program and from the owner's site
Page 3 of 4
