California St. Stockton, Ca.
Monitoring Well Sampling Report
Dear Mr. Infurna:
Please find below the report covering third quarter monitoring activities on the above stated property,,
THIRD QUARTER 2001 MONITORING WELL SAMPLING REPORT
Site History
Five fuel USTs and one used motor oil tank were removed by Jim Thorpe Oil in November 1992 un&i
a permit from the PHS/EHD. Soil samples taken from under the USTs and the dispensing equipment
indicated the presence of hydrocarbons.Spoil from the excavation was found to contain hydrocarbon
contamination.
Clearwater Group submitted a Work Plan to install three soil borings with monitoring wells constructed
in the same boring. The work described in the Clearwater Work Plan was completed in March of 1995.
The excavation for the removal of the USTs was backfilled by Jim Thorpe Oil in April 1996. The
excavation spoil was used for backfill material.
Foothill Engineering was requested by the owner to sample the three monitoring wells that were t
installed by Clearwater at various times and the analysis ofthose samples is attached. Monitoring wells
MW-1 and MW-2 continue to contain high levels of gasoline contamination.MW-3 has much lower :;t
levels of gasoline contamination (see a recap sheet attached).
On August 23, 1999,the PHS/EHD approved a Work Plan submitted by Foothill Engineering to install
replacement wells for MW#1,MW#2,and MW#3.These replacement wells were installed to correct
the over screen conditions of the existing monitoring wells. Also, included in this Work Plan was the
installation of three CPTs. To date CPT#l, CPT#2 and CPT43 have been installed. Soil and
groundwater samples extracted during the installation of CPTs indicate gasoline contamination to a
depth of eighty-five feet (see a recap attached).
E On May 2 and 3,2000 the soil borings for both MW#5 and MW#6 were made as described in the Work
Plan of 3/17/2000. Monitoring wells were installed in both of these soil bores. The Work Plan of
1
